BILL FRYER, MANAGING PRINCIPAL AND CO-FOUNDER

Mr. Fryer has 40+ years of experience through all business cycles with public and private enterprise level investing, including public and private enterprises in the healthcare sector, acting inside private and public real estate companies as principal and fiduciary. Following Mr. Fryer’s 30-year tenure as a partner at King & Spalding in Atlanta and New York, at which he lead the firm’s real estate capital markets practice and was responsible for screening firm client originated investments in alternatives, including venture capital, private equity and real estate opportunities, he founded Iron Tree Capital LLC to invest in real estate operating platforms. Mr. Fryer is a member of the Advisory Board of Jamestown Properties and an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of Graham Commercial Properties.  He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Edens for 17 years.

Mr. Fryer received a J.D. (Order of the Coif) and B.A. with High Honors degrees from the University of Virginia. He has served as the President of the University of Virginia Law School Alumni Association, as a trustee of both the UVA College and Law School Foundations, and as a non-voting representative to the University of Virginia Board of Visitors. He is a Trustee Emeritus of The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia.

JUSTIN CARPENTER, PRINCIPAL

Mr. Carpenter is a Principal at Iron Tree Capital. He has a diverse real estate background working on behalf of both institutional and private investors across asset classes. Most recently, he served as Director of Finance for RCG Ventures where he was responsible for overseeing all portfolio underwriting and analytics as well as fundraising and financing initiatives for a $1 billion national retail portfolio. Prior to working at RCG, Mr. Carpenter worked with Mr. Fryer at Iron Tree Capital to complete several complex real estate and entity-level investments. Earlier in his career, he managed a portfolio of non-performing loans and REO properties at Midland Loan Services on behalf of investors in CMBS pools and worked at PGIM Real Estate (formerly Prudential Real Estate Investors) where he underwrote more than $1.3 billion in total acquisitions as well as several strategic dispositions.

Mr. Carpenter graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BBA degree from the University of Georgia with a major in both Finance and Real Estate.

GIBBS Fryer, PRINCIPAL

Mr. Fryer is a Principal and General Counsel at Iron Tree Capital Partners. Most recently, Mr. Fryer was a Partner in King & Spalding’s Commercial Transactions and Real Estate group, where he advised private equity sponsors and institutional investors on real estate capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on real estate fund formations, joint ventures and other capital markets transactions.  Previously, Mr. Fryer was at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York, where he specialized in private equity corporate and financing transactions.  Mr. Fryer also spent time at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in their Syndicated Leverage Finance group advising primarily on leveraged loan transactions. 

Mr. Fryer received his J.D. and his B.A. in Arts and Sciences from the University of Virginia and is admitted to practice in Georgia and New York.  Mr. Fryer is a member of PREA, NAREIT and ULI.

charles hornberger, PRINCIPAL

Mr. Hornberger is a Principal at Iron Tree Capital.  Most recently, he was a Vice President in Citi’s Investment Banking Division, where he advised corporate clients, private equity sponsors and institutional investors on M&A transactions, public and private fundraising, and the evaluation of strategic alternatives.   Mr. Hornberger executed numerous multi-billion dollar public M&A transactions and capital raisings, specifically within the midstream sector of Citi’s Global Energy Group.  Previously, Mr. Hornberger was an attorney in Andrews Kurth LLP’s Corporate/Securities Group, where he advised clients on public and private M&A and
financing transactions.

Mr. Hornberger received a JD/MBA from the University of Texas and a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
